The chick Octavia (I love fierce Roman name for chickens!) now flies on the edge of the brooder every time we entrer the room and waits for worms:) The girls love sunbathing too.Read More
It's the beginning of week 3 with our cute chicks. We are now giving them worms as a treat straight from the hand and it's so funny! It's pure serotonin! They have learned pretty quickly that a hand in the brooder means worms so they are not so scared anymore of humans. Their body is changing : they are bigger, with more feathers and they forage a lot!
I have never had chickens. I remember that my grandma had them when I was a kid and I remember how fun was giving them leftovers or watermelon. But this is the first time as adult and I feel quite responsable. The chicks that we got today are one week old. Very young. I'm really excited about it but also scared. I don't want them to die because we don't know enough about the hens world. We are doing our best so far!
