Cutting Edge put down the gravel which will serve as the base of the concrete pad for the coop. It's sitting on fill, so I'm concerned that there will be subsistence (there's sure to be). Last night I built a brooder box for the chicks. It's a simple box, built out of scrap plywood cut with a circular saw: 3 feet square and 2 feet high. We've put it in the guest house, with a heater to keep the room warm, and then a Brinsea brooder in the box to keep the chicks warm. Here's a picture of the box that I made before it had any chicks in it: Today we went to get 6 chicks -- they're still staying mostly under the heater, which is warm and darker.
