Yesterday they were starting to place the liner for the stream. First goes a layer of felt, then the liner (for the stream, they're using the grey Firestone PondGard liner), then another layer of felt on top of the liner to protect it from the rocks that are placed on top to hold it in place.
And along the edge, they are big rocks, weighing hundreds of pounds.
Here's Justin using an excavator like a paintbrush, working with a palette of boulders.
Here's what it looked like immediately before they set the liner. They had to get the levels exactly right, since once the liner and the boulders are in place, any change is going to be extraordinarly difficult.
And here's another drone view of setting the boulders
