another load of compost

POSTED IN: An edible garden

This is now my third load of compost over the past year from Lane Forest Products.  This time it was 3 units (22.5 cubic yards) of their "Blended Mint" compost.  It's great stuff!  I layered a few inches over my rhubarb mounds, and a week later it was full of earthworms.

The soil here is mostly about 3 feet of heavy clay over what I think is weathered sandstone (or possibly basalt) bedrock.  I have a little Mantis tiller that I use to mix the compost in to amend the clay.  The last shipment was 2 units last summer -- I went through that in a couple of months.
