Data Analytics & Visualization Demo #2: ALBERTA OIL PRODUCTION & REVENUES 1981-2013

Hi - did a quick and dirty ;) YouTube video where I pulled some public data from Alberta government on the production of Oil from 2003-2013 and the Revenues from 1981-2013 broken down by source.

Video Shows:

  • 30 seconds of R Code
  • Where the Data came from (Stats/Energy Alberta)
  • 3 minute tour of data inside GoogleVis UI (charts and graphs)

If you're in the energy sector and have some historic knowledge of the periods from 1981 - 2013 and think it would be interesting to provide context, please message me - if interest we can pull feedback together and do a fancier version.  Cheers!

R Code:

########## Alberta Oil Visualisations with GoogleVis
## data source http://www.energy.alberta.ca/About_Us/2564.asp

setwd("C:/Users/Home/Documents/DTL Data Viz Community/Canada")

oil <- read.csv("Alberta Oil Production.csv")Alberta_Oil=gvisMotionChart(oil, idvar="metric", timevar="year")

########  revenues in millions
revenue <- read.csv("Alberta Oil Revenues.csv")  ## revenues in millions

Alberta_Revenue=gvisMotionChart(revenue, idvar="metric", timevar="year")
