Now with Google Hangouts!

One of the key components for online community building and communications on Dream to Learn is 'face to face' dialogue.    We believe this will be a key ingredient in learning and the relationships.

We are excited to announce we have integrated of Google Hangouts.  Still a few wrinkles to iron out, and test - but features include:

  • Launch Web Conferencing > Ability to launch Hangouts from Dream to Learn Discussion rooms (private and community) - video, audio, screen sharing, etc..
  • Invitation > Ability to invite ALL users in discussion room, to hangouts
  • Broadcast (and Record) Discussions > Using Google/YOutube Native features - can have up to 10 people in session, PLUS also provide streaming link to unlimited number of view-only participants (up to 4 hours, being confirmed) https://support.google.com/plus/answer/2459411?hl=en   and http://socialmediaweek.org/files/2013/01/Hangouts-On-Air-Guide_v3.pdf - YouTube permits management of privacy settings.
  • "Talking Stick" (aka Virtual-Baton) - methodology for managing who is talking in a larger group, and moderating discussions or debates

Here is a discussion room - one of the launchpads we use for hangouts:
